Suggestions :)



A person of character is respectful. Respect means treating others the way you want to be treated by being courteous and polite to others. It involves recognizing that every individual is valuable and entitled to be treated with respect, regardless of race, religion, gender, or physical abilities. Some traits include:

  • Listen to others

  • Play fair

  • Use good manners

  • Wait your turn

  • Pick up after yourself

  • How you treat others (The Golden Rule)

Challenge Activity-January 2018

The Challenge Activity with a theme of “We All Belong.”   


1)  Watch the grade-level appropriate video & have a discussion around the theme of respect and how “We All Belong.”

Example Discussion Question with CLR Activity:

After watching the video, pose this question to your students using the CLR activity, “Merry-Go-Round:”


CLR Activity: “Merry-Go-Round”

  1. The teacher poses a question, for example: Do you think it was respectful for only “white” people to get to sit in the front of the bus and African Americans in the back, and why?

  2. Students, in groups of 3-4 (or table groups), take turns sharing a thought or reaction.

  3. Responses are 1-5 words, keeping the rotation quick and thoughts concise.
