Odyssey of the Mind Parent Information Night

Monday, Sept. 25th, 6:30 - 7:30pm

Room 408 (Mrs. Vamvouris' classroom)

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that has been creating problem-solving opportunities for students for over 39 years. Teams of up to 7 students spend weeks developing their incredible solutions to predefined problems.

Each team member will find a role to play in the many stages of problem-solving including brainstorming, script writing, costume creation, music, visual arts, props and scenery construction, engineering, leadership, critical thinking, and much more, while thinking "Beyond the Box!" The solutions are presented in a live performance at the local competition on Saturday, March 3rd with the opportunity to advance to the state and World level competitions.

Last year's Greenbrook 5th grade team came in 5th place (out of 13 teams!) for their solution to the Odd-a-Bot problem. So awesome for their first time!

Primary teams grades K-2nd do not compete, but can solve and present an introductory problem. Grades 3rd-5th select from one of five possible problems to present at the tournament.

Every team needs a coach or co-coaches. Your job would be to guide up to 7 students, possibly from mixed grades, through the process. The goal is to have the kids do EVERYTHING themselves. Coaches attend one free training session on 9/30, 11/4, OR 12/2 in Concord. The training is very comprehensive and they will tell you everything you need to know.

for an in depth look at the program.

Sounds fun right?! Please RSVP for the OotM Information Night on Sept. 25th if you would like to learn more.

Can't attend? Indicate your interest on the Sign Up and you will be contacted.
